Mandate: UNFPA supports Developing Countries efforts to improve access to and quality of reproductive health care including family planning, safe motherhood, and the prevention of sexually transmitted infections.
Structure: The bulk of procurement is done through Procurement Services in New York. UNFPA also has a network of field offices located around the world where low value administrative procurement is carried out.

Registration: To register as a UNFPA supplier, visit: http://www.unfpa.org/procurement/become.htm. Only registered suppliers will be shortlisted for ITB and RFQ contracts. Registration is not a requirement for ICB contracts.
Procurement Rules: The method of procurement is determined based on contract value: $USD 2,500 – $USD 30,000: ITB, RFQ Over $USD 30,000: ICB UNFPA uses limited ICB among registered suppliers. Complicated service contracts will be awarded based on RFP.
Field Procurement: Field and Local Procurement accounted for just under 15% of all 2001 UNFPA procurement. Field Offices will RFQ from UNFPA registered suppliers.
