Mandate: UNPD is the central purchasing agency for the UN Secretariat, peacekeeping missions, regional commissions (ECLAC, ESCAP, etc.) and the International Criminal Tribunals

Structure: Procurement for the various offices of the Secretariat in New York is done through the Headquarters Procurement Section while the Field Procurement and Logistics and Transportation Sections supply the offices abroad and peacekeeping missions.

Procurement Procedures:

Registration: Suppliers need to register directly with UNPD at: http://www.un.org/Depts/ptd/venreg.htm

Procurement Rules: For contracts over $US 25,000, UNPD will advertise an RFP/ITB. For all other contracts, UNPD will request quotations from selected registered suppliers. UNPD also holds public bid openings.

Field Procurement: Field Offices have the authority to carry out a wide-range of procurement functions without consulting headquarters. Suppliers may want to contact Field Offices directly to advertise their good or service. A list of field offices is available at:
